Right to Education Act 2009; – Campaign 2015

Purpose:
The school children, guardians and the members of the school management committee should be informed about free and compulsory education under Right to Education Act- 2009. Also, they should be made aware about the services they should get from the school and the policies related to it as mentioned in this Act. It will increase their knowledge regarding the rules and regulations governing it. Especially parents and guardians should be made aware about the school management committee and the members of the SMC should always be conscious about their performance.
Work Process:
On June 19th, 2015 a School Praveshotsav (School Admission Festival) was celebrated in various municipal schools of Behrampura, Ganesh Nagar and Dani Limda of Ahmedabad city between 8 AM-12 PM. To make this event successful, a visit and meeting was conducted in these three regions initially. The entire idea of the campaign was told to the principals of the schools. The list of all the new incoming students for Standard 1 was prepared so that the kits can be distributed properly.
» In Municipal School 8-13, Pirana Road Behrampura, Ahmedabad a total of 30 new students were enrolled. The program started in the school at 8:30 AM in the morning on June 19th, 2015.
» IIn Municipal Urdu and Gujarati School No. 3-4-5-6, a total of 75 students were enrolled. The program started at 11:30 AM in the morning on June 19th, 2015.
» IIn Municipal School Gujarati Ganesh Nagar, a total of 50 students were enrolled. The program started at 11:30 AM in the morning on June 19th, 2015.
» IIn Municipal School Gujarati Primary Class 1-5 Khodiyar Nagar, a total of 50 students were enrolled.
This program of School Praveshotsav (School Admission Festival) was organized by the Centre for Development (CfD) to link this campaign to their intervention in the education sector. The main purpose of this program was to raise awareness regarding compulsory education and the Right to Education. For this, a canopy was put up which had all the information regarding this all over it. It was designed in such a way that people could read all the information and the advantages of the Right to Education Act, 2009 which was presented in a very lucid language.
Pamphlets regarding the Right to Education Act 2009 were distributed to the parents and guardians of the children present there. It mentioned the rules and regulations of the act and the importance of free and compulsory education for children.
A kit containing three notebooks, a color box, a pencil-box with pencil and eraser was given to all the students who were enrolled in the First Standard. The kits were given to a total of 201 children.
In this program, the school gave admissions to the new comers in the First Standard and apart from this a cultural program was also organized. More emphasis was given on girls’ education and ‘yoga’.
As many as 568 children, 85 parents and guardians and 44 teachers were present in the event.>
